Meals ‘til Monday seeks to raise awareness of the issue of hunger among our neighbors, as well as provide opportunities to love those same neighbors by tangibly meeting this need. It is our goal that students distracted, discouraged, and disadvantaged by hunger would gain focus, encouragement, and confidence by having this basic need met.
Loving by action and helping meet needs is not our idea. As followers of Jesus Christ, it is who we are. We desire to be genuine by living lives in which our words and actions reflect the love of Jesus Christ. We love because He loves us. We know how to love because He shows us.
“This is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another...This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth...And this is His command: to believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.” 1 John 3:11, 16-18, 23 (NIV)
